Low mileage but you must not REALLY want to sell that 4+ year old VFR.
Maybe in California you might find someone lame enough to pay $7K but
for the rest of US try $5K. Try Peter R as he thinks VFR's are something
special -Smile

They are. That's why I still own one just like it.

Of course mine wouldn't be worth 7K either, even if it didn't have ten times
the mileage and hadn't been dropped twice...but he *did* say "or best
offer", and you can't blame a guy for trying.

After all, you can't start out by asking a low price and then go up from
there...

Just pullin' yer chain. VFR's rule.

Yup, and it is a low mileage garage queen at that.

Five grand? Bob must be thinking of Triumph resale value instead of
Honda Wink. For a '99 VFR, KBB lists $6400, MCN $6545.

Here's Bob's idea of a good VFR ad:

FS: 1999 Honda VFR800. Oh, woe is me! What a horrible mistake I made
when I bought a Honda VFR instead of the far superior Triumph Sprint.
Now, all I want is to get rid of this POS for whatever meager price some
misguided soul is willing to pay. If you're looking for a VFR to
ride--though I can't imagine why--I'll take the best offer I receive in
the next 48 hours. Otherwise, I'll be melting it down and selling it as
scrap aluminum to the first metals recycler who shows up with $200 cash.

Funny. I was looking seriously at the 02Sprint ST, and the 02VFR800. I
finally got the VFR because it's lighter, the reviews were better when
compared directly to the ST, and because I think it looks better.

I'm sure there are militant fans of each bike though..

Not to worry: in case of actual combat we outnumber them by a huge margin,
and our Hondas will continue running forever while the Triumph owners are
desperately wiring Great Britain in hopes that someone will knit them a new
wiring harness.
(And aren't they still using Whitworth threads on the nuts and bolts? Tsk,
tsk, tsk! Pity!)

You've GOT to be kidding. Never go that outside Cali.

Baaa.. while the 99-01 VFR's look cool, the 02 looks like a space ship.
Did you even test ride "either" before buying the Honda? And those Honda
barge bags...uggg.

Absolultely. But both are fine machines.

Or put up with the likelihood of your VFR's voltage regulator going
south. IOW, pot/kettle. Peter, anyone who's ridden both the VFR and
Sprint (three of each) as I have, knows they've similar in ergos and
function but have vastly different character. VFR revvy, with cool
sounding V8 sound and the Sprint is torquey and has an equally unique
triple sound. Both have extremely smooth engines and overall good
reliability records. Around Phoenix, Sprints seem nearly as common as
VFRs and it's not unusual to see three or four of either on a busy day
at the watering hole. With both, riders tend to be 35 or older.
Obviously the Honda has better resale value but these aren't the sort of
bikes that get traded around much or at least not from what I've seen.
Generally, high mileage riders bikes.

Looks are relative, but I did like the look of both bikes. The VFR won out,
because it was less like the styling of every other bike. Yes, I did ride
both before buying. I had to have a dealer with me, and I was in town, so I
didn't really get to play too much. The riding position was similar, and
both were fast. The VFR really drew me in with the Vtec opened up though.
I'd never heard a triple before, so the sound was a bit strange compared to
the VFR.

Yes, the factory hard bags are ugly. The Corbin beetle bags are ugly. I
think bags are a no win situation on any bike, even though I need them. I'll
probably go with the Givi bags.. the small ones.. they look like crap, but I
need the storage space. Maybe someone will come out with something "pretty"
sooner or later.

Looks like a spaceship? Works for me.. maybe I'll start pretending I'm Hans
Solo while riding.
