If you haven't seen this ad - well, wow - very cool - it takes a while to
open - the flash file is nearly 4 meg - maybe they will do one for a Honda
Motorcycle...

Cleaver. We can all see now that Honda's paying it's marketing dipshits
FAR more than it's engineers;)

Good point, six million seems a bit excessive for a commercial and would pay
for alot of R&D. Still a cool Rube Goldberg however.

Word is they did not splice multiple video shots together for this piece.
It's all for real. The part I was skeptical of was the wheel rolling uphill,
but then a buddy pointed out that the wheel was likely sufficiently weighted
on the rim.

Yeah, very cool. And Bob, cool marketing drives customer interest, which
drives purchases, which provide cashflow, which allow for R&D, product
development and of course... more cool marketing. It's not as easy as Kevin
Costner in "Field of Dreams": if you only build it, they won't come. You
have to build it, and also capture customer interest. I would guess anyone
who saw that Honda ad on TV was thinking and talking about it for a while
(like we are here)... which is exactly the point.

Once again Jamin never fails to amaze me with his understanding of the
superficial nature of capitalism and that most folks are, well......dumb
as that Yamaha ad, with the jackass chasing his golf ball on an R6;)

That Honda ad was very clever, though. I guess that means Honda's might
appeal to the intelligent but anal types, where' as Yamaha's market
segment is on down the food chain?, Smile

Even more than that, they had a pile of bolts taped inside the tire itself,
and then very carefully set it perfectly balanced and held ther breath
(same for just about every other setup too)
It was taken in one single take (number 6oo and something I think)
wish I could find the e-mail I had fo rthis the first time this came
around - it also had a link to an article. Plus the original honda
site that had this (european honda) also had some of the inside info.
Now all I can find is a download of the movie - no other info.
(plus there is a movie of V. Rossi driving a civic?!?)

Yep! and my favorite section was the wacky walking windshield wipers.

another FYI tidbit - every singe thing in the whole contraption was
parts from thenew car - and at the time of filming there was only two
or three prototypes available - soand they completly dissassembled one for this.

I don't care much for that R6 ad. I like the ZX-6R ad andrew mentioned much
better. Maybe it's because I'm not a golfer. Smile

I would have to agree with you there. Not saying all their customers are
"down the food chain", but their target market certainly is, compared to
Honda auto customers.
